Nils Hansen (@nils_wscycleworks)’s days often begin at 5am with a bike ride, soaking in the beauty of Cape Town’s landscapes. “Cycling is like second nature to me; it’s the ultimate freedom.” Weekends for him are a blend of car tinkering, family time and gardening – a passion that he’s keen to develop further. “Exploring new places with my family brings me immense joy”, he says. “I’m at my happiest when I’m working on anything outdoors and being creative with my hands”.
Transitioning from his beloved Volkswagens to a Porsche 924, Nils found himself drawn to classic cars when others were chasing the latest models. He wanted something special, something to challenge him. The Porsche became a canvas for learning and creativity, a testament to his passion for restoration and repair.

If you ask a child to draw a car, it often resembles a G-Class. It’s a classic, a legend.
We had the incredible experience of shooting the 500,000th Mercedes-Benz G-Class alongside its iconic 1986 brother under the scorching Austrian sun. After our shoot, this milestone vehicle made its way to the Mercedes-Benz museum.
Mercedes-Benz says, “The G-Class has been writing its own success story since 1979. Now, number 500,000 of this off-road icon has left the production line in Graz, Austria. It’s a figure that at the same time underscores its exclusivity as it took more than four decades to reach this important milestone. The commemorative one-off takes us back to its roots – with vintage looks evocative of the 280 ge from one of the very first model years.”

The Toyota Hilux 4×4 is the ultimate machine to take on the desert. Tried and tested. Shot for Bush and Desert Car Hire, a brand new company renting out 4×4 vehicles in southern Africa for adventures and safari. We took one of the well-kitted-out vehicles off-road on a road trip and had a super time.

We’ve shot a lot of “Mercs”, but never the G-Class! So finally, a few months back we spent a week in Andalusia, the south of Spain. Starting from Malaga, we went on a 5-day road trip to shoot this orange rusty beast dream car. It was a super fun production with a great team. One thing though is for sure: challenging weather for four days, the rainiest shoot of our career. What an adventure!

[automotive] The new Mercedes-Benz eVito Electric Panel Van is 100% fully electric, it’s a game changer. We took the Mercedes-Benz eVito through Berlin shooting it in action with the big city being the backdrop. The eVito is made for entrepreneurs who are on the move. Our pictures are shot for the social media accounts etc. of Mercedes-Benz vans and associates.

[commercial] We shot the Audi 2022 campaign for Audi South Africa. Fabulous locations in Johannesburg: seriously out-of-this-world safari and nature experiences and a fabulous crew made this one fun. The images are used all over the Audi South Africa website, their Audi freeway, maintenance and service plans as well as social media, etc.
