2020 Edition Isuzu X-Rider 3.0TD / shot for ISUZU Motors South Africa / Port Elizabeth, South Africa
[automotive] The new Isuzu 3.0TD X-Rider shot in ISUZU Motors South Africa’s base, in Port Elizabeth.
[automotive] ISUZU Extended Cab – we got to shoot this great car on our recent visit to PE for ISUZU Motors South Africa.
[automotive] No cars without people. Early January we spent some time in Port Elizabeth at the ISUZU plant. It takes a bunch (!!!) of people to make a car. It was fascinating to see and document the whole process for ISUZU Motors South Africa.
{editorial} ‘With these hands’ is an editorial in the current High Life (British Airways inflight magazine) on people working with their hands and their true craftsmanship. We photographed Megan Miller and the makers of Nette Rose lingerie, the distiller Eugene Coertzen of Brickmakers Distillery, Dylan Lewis’ sculptures and shoe maker S’bosh Mnikina – words by Nick Dall.
{editorial} Port Elizabeth has a reputation as the ‘bottlenose dolphin capital of the world’, but few people know that Algoa Bay is home to half the global population of African penguins as well as the world’s largest colony of gannets – some 200,000 individuals on one tiny island. The bay also harbours two other dolphin species and a host of resident and visiting whales, seals, sharks and fish. Nick Dall and I got salty with some of the scientists and tour operators who are committed to ensuring this decidedly urban marine gem remains as sparkly as ever. {editorial} When High Life asked Nick and myself to document PE, I was a bit nervous and excited at the same time. Nervous because I’m not familiar with PE and when I asked someone that day what he thinks about PE he replied “Well at least its close to J-Bay”. But exactly this made me excited! I knew that Nick (who always gets the best out of a situation and out of people) and myself will rock it and that we will show to everyone that PE is cool. We did just that!
Ever since I have been back to PE twice for various other jobs. I have met amazing people and kinda feel like a local in the Baakens Valley, the place where you get very good food, beer and of course coffee. So PE’s culture is growing enormously, especially amongst the youth. The youth that always moved to Joburg and Cape Town after school are staying and making awesome things. And yes, J-Bay is around the corner, extra brownie points! DNA – Desmond
