DNA WOR{KING} X Business Day Wanted collaboration

{editorial} Our project WOR{KING} kicked off in February 2014. We just kept on meeting more and more people with awesome wheels (cars, of course, but also motorcycles and bicycles) and their stories and we had to do something with them. For us it was only natural to shoot them plus to do a little interview.
The history of the vehicle and the memories associated with it are usually about more than just the ‘drive’. South Africa and Germany, where most of the content was gathered, have an incredible car culture. The content features various characters and stories: A son who buys his dad his lifelong favorite car, a family that has owned ten Volkswagen Beetles, with which they managed to conquer difficult 4×4 only passes. A father and son who have restored a Boss Mustang for the duration of eleven years. A filmmaker who loves his narrow car and hopes it never becomes trendy…
The people included in this book are a few that we have met on our travels in South Africa, USA, Portugal, Germany and Thailand.

dna exhibition at Jason Bakery, Cape Town, South Africa

{news} We have a little exhibition at Jason Bakery (185 Bree Street) in ‪Cape Town‬ from today on. Go check it out – it’s a small collection of random shots we love. ‪Thanks Elodye Davids Art for making this happen! We totally believe in bringing the galleries ‘to the streets’, to everyday life. dna USA trip {Texas, Austin (SXSW), New Orleans..}

{news} We had an EPIC road trip through Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida and then a quick flight to New York City!

So we picked up our little rental car in Dallas, Texas and started to head south direction Austin. We set the GPS to avoid big highways so that we can see more of the countryside and locals. This was really interesting, Texas can give the same feeling as the Free State in South Africa. Every guy drives a huge bakkie or as they will say pick-up. We had fun! Staying on a ranch, buying cowboy boots, learning why we/they have to ‘Keep Austin weird’, SXSW, road tripping, shooting an AMAZING wedding (more about that soon) and having a little bit of hard core winter in NYC. Traveling is good. Life is super duper good.

The air was fresh and the city was buzzing as it was SXSW (South by South West). What a cool city, we immediately felt at home and just walked the streets amongst some beautiful and crazy cool people. We also interviewed a very special guy for our Wor{king} project, but more about that later.

It started to get hotter and greener as we moved closer to Florida. Here are some pics of the swamps and the lovely New Orleans, the jazz capital of the world (and maybe there we saw the happiest bums ever?).
