Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars Calendar 2018 / shot in Spain

{automotive} In July we got a call from Mercedes-Benz Germany. They told us that they love our natural style of taking photos and they would love for us to be part of the international 2018 Mercedes-Benz passenger cars calendar.

Five other car photographers from all around the world were selected for this collaboration. Each photographer got a country and a car. We got the GLC and Spain. We decided to go up country to the lesser traveled north and east. Our main spot was Bardenas Reales, a semi-desert natural region.

We are super honoured to have been part of this, it was definitely a 2017 highlight.

You can buy the calendar here.

Have a look at the photographs used and some behind-the-scenes shots.

“The Mercedes-Benz 2018 passenger car calendar takes you for a ride with the new EQ Power vehicles. Look forward to the fascinating trip with #MBSocialCar photographers and allow yourself to become inspired for 12 entire months.”

Voortrekker Road / shot for Highlife, British Airways inflight magazine

{editorial} “You can find anything on Voortrekker Road. Really, you can. You can find your ancestors at Maitland Cemetery and salvation at Command of Faith Ministries. Modern-day Voortekkers dragging carts of scrap metal behind blinkered horses and row upon row of caricature car salesmen peddling near-identical Toyotas and Tatas. You can find your bearings by looking up at ever-present Lion’s Head.”

I spend two days on Voortrekker Road with Nick Dall interviewing random people – such a good and positive experience. Chatting and meeting people that live in a caravan park, inviting us into their caravans and sharing story after story. It’s such a special road. It reminds me a lot of America. Find the full story in the current inflight magazine of British Airways called High life.

DNA WOR{KING} X Business Day Wanted collaboration

{editorial} Our project WOR{KING} kicked off in February 2014. We just kept on meeting more and more people with awesome wheels (cars, of course, but also motorcycles and bicycles) and their stories and we had to do something with them. For us it was only natural to shoot them plus to do a little interview.
The history of the vehicle and the memories associated with it are usually about more than just the ‘drive’. South Africa and Germany, where most of the content was gathered, have an incredible car culture. The content features various characters and stories: A son who buys his dad his lifelong favorite car, a family that has owned ten Volkswagen Beetles, with which they managed to conquer difficult 4×4 only passes. A father and son who have restored a Boss Mustang for the duration of eleven years. A filmmaker who loves his narrow car and hopes it never becomes trendy…
The people included in this book are a few that we have met on our travels in South Africa, USA, Portugal, Germany and Thailand.
